Cadherin Structure

Cadherin 6

Cadherins mediate cell adhesion and play a role in normal development. They participate in the maintenance of proper cell to cell contacts. They act as both receptor and ligand. They are responsible for the selective cell to cell adhesion or cell sorting which is necessary for development. They play key roles in morphogenesis and in the maintenance of orderly structures.
